BRANDEIS NATIONAL COMMITTEE (BNC) is an organization of women and men who have a passion for learning and life. We are active volunteers in our community and offer a wide variety of events and activities for everyone's interest through our study groups and book clubs. BUNWC provides financial suport for Brandeis University and its Libraries. Our South Miami-Dade Chapter was selected as Chapter of the Year 2007 by the national organization. It is not necessary to be a Brandeis alum and we welcome new members throughout the year.

The Garden Fund was formed in 2007 by some residents of Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay and Coral Gables, to promote and help fund preservation of our green spaces. Our mission is to identify and enhance the horticultural needs of our community through education, preservation and cultivation. Our primary goal at this time is to help restore and enhance Pinecrest Gardens. Our public garden has no admission fee, no volunteers, and no membership dues or other source of income for the horticultural side of the historic site. The Tropical Fern & Exotic Plant Society's first Annual Show and Sale will be held at Fairchild Tropical Garden (10901 Old Cutler Road), June 2-3. Changes in neighborhood traffic patterns are an important issue. Traffic in our neighborhood has increased due to the closing of Red Road south of Gulliver Academy. A guard house is being built at the entrance to Lugo Road. Gables by the Sea has formed a security district to limit access to their neighborhood. Can the intersection of 120th Street and Red road be made safer? How should we express our concerns to the Pinecrest Village Council regarding these issues?
